Our Story

Why Functional Precision

We exist because elite performance shouldn't be reserved for the few. Competitive athletes deserve access to the same science, precision, and developmental expertise that professional organizations use.

Dr. Rettig, Founder of Functional Precision

Meet the Founder

Shaylon Rettig, MD

Dr. Rettig founded Functional Precision out of a simple but powerful observation: the athletes who thrive long-term aren't just the most talented — they're the ones who move best. After years of treating young athletes in clinical settings, he saw the same preventable injuries and performance plateaus repeating themselves.

His dual board certifications in Pediatrics and Sports Medicine give him a perspective that's rare in the performance world: he understands not just how adult athletes perform, but how developing bodies grow, adapt, and respond to training load. That clinical foundation is the backbone of everything we do at Functional Precision.

Combined with certifications from the Titleist Performance Institute, OnBaseU, and RacquetFit, Dr. Rettig brings a multi-sport, science-first approach to every athlete he works with.
